Mario Cantone on The Birds
The Birds is a flawed movie. 3 1/2 stars at best, if only for the ideas contained within it. It’s a movie about people we don’t like and don’t care about getting attacked by bad blue-screen effects, puppets, and occasionally real birds. Since we don’t care if any of these dull people die, there isn’t much point. Anyway, as I was watching the film, I got to the scene where the blue-screen effects and puppets attack the children, and some of the children smile like idiots because they can’t act, and I had to revisit an old nugget of comedy gold. Mario Cantone explains why the birds attacked the children: they were sick and tired of that f***ing song!
